A 3DM Learning Community is designed to help you and your leadership team implement a more effective approach to multiplying disciples and empowering them to carry out the ministry of Jesus in the world. We employ field-tested strategies and tools pioneered in postmodern Europe by Mike Breen and now adapted for the North American context by him and the 3DM team. 3DM Learning Communities are designed for established churches that want to navigate the transition from a programmatic-attractional approach to a more effective discipling-missional culture as well as new church plants that want to establish this kind of DNA from the start. The Southern California Learning Community will bring together teams of 3-7 leaders from 20-30 churches across the southwest twice a year for intensive four-day training and strategic planning gatherings. Between these twice-yearly gatherings the senior leader of each team participates in a bi-weekly Coaching Huddle designed to provide ongoing input for the implementation of discipleship, mission, and spiritual empowerment in your specific context. The Community runs over the course of two years and the four training events focus on (1) Building a Discipling Culture, (2) Multiplying Missional Leaders, (3) Launching Missional Communities, and (4) Establishing Centers of Mission.

The Southern California Learning Community will be led by Bob Rognlien and his team of experienced pastors and church leaders.  As Lead Pastor of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Torrance, California, Bob has been leading his congregation through a transition from an attractional-programmatic model, to a more Jesus-shaped discipling-missional culture and is now leading 3DM Learning Communities here on the west coast. The team that is leading with Bob is made up of veteran pastors, church planters, and leaders who have been trained by Mike Breen and are implementing these strategies and tools in their own ministries as well.

Gatherings begin on Mondays at 2 PM and conclude on Thursdays at 2 PM. Hospitality and lunches are provided on-site and dinners are shared together in local homes. An annual Senior Leader and Spouse Retreat provides an opportunity to get away with your life partner for more learning and personal renewal. Each participating team pays an overall fee which covers the retreats, food, and bi-weekly Coaching Huddle. Teams cover the cost of their travel and lodging separately. • Dates: March 19-22, 2012, October 15-18, 2012, March 11-14, 2013, October 28-31, 2013
• Senior Leader and Spouse Retreats: September 17-21, 2012, September 16-20, 2013
• Leadership: Bob Rognlien and the Southern California 3DM Team
• Location: Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Torrance, California
• Team: 3-7 participants. You can keep the same team members or rotate some of your positions.
• Cost (meals included, transportation and lodging extra): $100 per person/per month; i.e Team of 3: $3600 per year. Team of 5: $6000 per year
• Payment: pay for the whole year at once or in monthly payments starting March 1, 2012
